The mega corporation Google has just purchased the GPS-based navigational app, Waze for approximately $1.3 billion, making some pretty exciting news for the tech world and consumers alike. Waze adds a whole new dimension, obtaining its mapping information from its users who provide real-life up-to-date information regarding traffic jams, car accidents, road construction and even police sightings.
The majority of us here at PMBC Group, Los Angeles Technology PR Firm, use Waze every day to go to and from work, but we asked the question, why Google? CEO of Waze, Noam Bardin has said that Google “was the best company positioned for a mobile world,” providing a bit of reasoning for the company’s decision to accept Google’s offer. The next move for Waze and Google is to continue working out how they will infiltrate an advertisement and promotional system for different companies nearby. Needless to say, there is much to come from this collaboration, and we’re excited to see it.
Do you use Waze?
